London Stansted Airport, Campus Development
Pascall+Watson have played a key role in the evolution of Stansted Airport for over 25 years
Since its inauguration in 1991, Pascall+Watson have been a lead participant in Stansted Airports’ progressive development and evolution. We have completed numerous projects of varying size and complexity ranging from small scale reconfigurations to huge terminal expansion programmes; from strategic masterplanning studies to on-site delivery.
Our work on extending the existing terminal building - doubling its capacity - created a pioneering Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) strategy that delivered the project at a significantly reduced cost, far quicker than originally programmed in an inherently safer environment.
In 2018 we were awarded the role of Design Team Leaders for the airport’s £600m Transformation Programme. The focal point of the Programme is a new 39,000m² stand-alone arrivals terminal which uniquely relocates all arrivals functions into a purpose-built, state-of-the art facility; the first of its kind in the UK. The existing terminal is completely reconfigured to offer a dedicated departures operation.
Our work at Stansted Airport supports its strategic long-term vision to realise sustainable growth whilst increasing its geographic reach and maintaining the highest possible safety and security standards.
