Tamil Nadu, INDIA –Tiruchirappalli International Airport, designed by Pascall+Watson Architects has been officially inaugurated by India’s PM Narendra Modi.
Pascall+Watson's design for Tiruchirappalli International Airport, located in the heart of Tamil Nadu, is an architectural achievement that effectively combines deep-rooted cultural influences with modern design elements. The project, shortlisted for the 2018 World Architecture News Awards in the Transport - Future Projects category, stands as a testament to sustainable innovation and aesthetic appeal.
Drawing inspiration from Trichy's rich architectural heritage and local customs, Pascall+Watson successfully infused age-old temple architecture elements to create a distinctive identity for the airport. Notable design highlights include an expressive roof form and multi-layered facade, showcasing geometry, textures, and colours that reflect the city's traditional style.

Pascall+Watson's GRIHA Four Star rated design showcases our commitment towards environmental sustainability by adopting renewable energy measures. Among these innovative initiatives are rainwater harvesting systems, ground-source heat pumps, and photovoltaic panels seamlessly incorporated into the airport's infrastructure.
