Pascall+Watson are Design Team Leaders and Employers Representative for the major redevelopment of St. Joseph’s Care Centre in Longford, Ireland.
The design for the residential unit for the elderly, has been submitted for planning and comprises a single-storey extension arranged around four internal courtyards, with a central ‘communal street’ that serves as a meeting place for residents and visitors.
The facility is divided into ‘households’, which are capable of sub-dividing into smaller groupings of bedrooms, living, activity and staff support spaces for a home-like experience for the residents. The 45 new ensuite bedrooms are designed to Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) standards.
Campus-wide interventions include a new link building, maintenance compound, energy centre, new parking and landscaping.
The development builds on our long-standing framework relationship with the Irish Health Service Executive (HSE) and growing portfolio in the healthcare sector.
Projects include work at Cork, Ennis, Ennistymon, Mallow, Midland, Our Lady of Lourdes, St Fintan’s, St Ita’s and Tallaght hospitals and at a range of community nursing, residential and day care centres.
