We are thrilled to share that we have achieved a PAS2060 Certification, marking a significant milestone in our journey towards sustainability! As one of the select few within the Top 30 AJ100 Architectural practices, we proudly operate as a Carbon Neutral company.
At Pascall + Watson, sustainability isn't just a buzzword; it's a fundamental pillar of our ethos. Guided by our dedicated in-house sustainability team, we've successfully attained this prestigious certification in 2024, marking a significant milestone in our ongoing journey towards environmental stewardship.
85% OF A BUSINESS’S CARBON FOOTPRINT CAN DERIVE FROM ITS SUPPLY CHAIN.
SUSTAINABLE PERFORMANCE CAN OFTEN BE UNCLEAR TO SUPPLY CHAIN PARTNERS.
In order to achieve this certification, we were required to:
1- CALCULATE OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT
We started by calculating 2019's scope 1, 2 and all applicable scope 3 sources of carbon emissions as a baseline in line with ISO 14064-1 GHG Protocol.
2- IMPLEMENT A CARBON REDUCTION PLAN
This highlighted area of the business which required reductions to be made, such as energy supply, business travel and commuting. We then set out how to reduce emissions in these areas.
3- SET A TARGET FOR ACHIEVING THESE REDUCTIONS
We set ourselves the target of reducing our carbon by 90% by 2040 and operating as a net zero practice by 2030 and reducing our emissions by 46% in comparison to our 2019 baseline year.
4- PURCHASE VERIFIED OFSETS
Pascall+Waston understands that offsets are not the ultimate answer to achieve carbon neutrality, however, we see them as an opportunity better the lives of communities using only Gold Standard or VCS-verified offsets
5- DEMONSTRATE ANNUAL CARBON EMISSION DEDUCTIONS
The office receive quarterly performance updates with directions on where the company can continue to reduce its carbon. One example of this is our London office being supplied by 100% renewable energy.
Our PAS2060 verification symbolises our unwavering dedication to environmental responsibility and the profound impact we aspire to make as a business. We are committed to ongoing efforts in managing and mitigating our carbon emissions, ensuring a sustainable future for generations to come.
