Following the successful completion of the Brunel Centre for Advanced Solidification Technology (BCAST) Advanced Metals Casting Centre, Pascall+Watson have designed and delivered the new state-of-the-art Advanced Metals Processing Centre.
Located within the Uxbridge campus’ Science Park, the 1,500m² laboratory supports the UK manufacturing sector by conducting world class academic research and industrial development in the processing of high performance aluminium for automotive applications.
The scheme was developed via regular collaborative workshops with student, academic and automotive stakeholders to establish the unique solution for this complex facility.
Our work with BCAST has assisted the university in securing £118m of funding from the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, Innovate UK and the Higher Education Funding Council for England, and is part of our ongoing contribution to the development of their campus.
Dr Ian Stone, BCAST Deputy Director commented:
“Pascall+Watson took care to understand the requirements of our complex equipment and designed a building that both met those requirements for the here and now, and provided future proofing to meet the changing needs of a research environment”
