Construction has commenced on two new projects at the University for the Creative Arts’ Farnham campus.
Pascall+Watson have provided architecture and landscape design services, working from feasibility stages, for both schemes which represent the next stages in our campus-wide masterplan.
The new student accommodation, due for completion in July 2021, comprises two 3-storey and three 4-storey buildings, housing over 250 en-suite bedroom units and associated communal spaces. The design of the buildings are sympathetic to Farnham’s local character and the wider campus setting.
The external courtyard is being transformed to provide a rebranded community hub at the heart of the campus, which enhances the student experience and provides adaptive spaces for teaching and social activities. Elsewhere, the main entrance is also being redeveloped to echo the courtyard’s design vision, providing a sequential path which flows from the public realm into the new central circulation hub.
Both schemes have focussed on the promotion of student well-being by creating open, outdoor spaces that encourage socialising and academic collaboration. With the inclusion of communal environments, our designs mitigate feelings of isolation and loneliness, as well as celebrating the pleasant external space.
The projects complement our long-standing relationship and portfolio of work across the university, to uplift facilities across each of the four campuses.
