Kings Cross Station, Station RedevelopmentVINCI Construction UK

The dramatic extension and redevelopment of King’s Cross Station could only have been realised with the involvement of a vast team of experts.

As part of the scheme, Pascall+Watson created a new semi-circular Western Concourse, three times bigger than the previous one, to sit under the dramatic curving latticed roof.

The new concourse extends the station to the west of its seven Grade I listed buildings, each of which was refurbished and redeveloped as part of the project. The original ticket office, which had fallen into disrepair and had latterly been used as storage space, was returned to its original function and former glory.

The new concourse knits the facilities together, offering greatly improved access to services on the Underground, the Thameslink station and the adjoining St Pancras International Station. It provides passengers with a convenient new retail offer and a shopping centre featuring facades that reference the sinuous roof.
