Heuston Station, Train Hall RoofIarnród Éireann

The project undertook the full refurbishment of the original trainshed roof which after 160 years of service was ‘life expired’.

The new work comprised the removal of all existing roof coverings and wrought iron trusses. The cast iron primary structural elements were then grit blasted back to base metal to allow for thorough inspections after which repairs or renewals were carried out as necessary.

New trusses and roof coverings were installed which together with updated services have extended the life of the station well into the future.
