The design of the Shaza Hotel brings to life the hotel group’s vision to offer guests a luxurious contemporary encounter with the history, traditions, values and art of the Middle East.
Positioned on a crossroads between the architecturally and culturally significant Museum of Islamic Art and the new National Museum in Qatar’s cultural district, the 20-storey building required the highest architectural standards. The design signature for the hotel is its unique facade, an intricately carved glazed screen inspired by the traditional mashrabiya, which glimmers in the sun and casts wonderfully intricate shadows inside the building.
Pascall+Watson produced the detailed design, acted as Executive Architect and provided the interior design for the 172-room hotel. The five star facilities include three themed restaurants, ‘Shalimar’ lounge, hammam, spa and gym, rooftop pool and café, business lounge and events spaces.
