Aberystwyth University, IBERS MasterplanAberystwyth University
The Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences (IBERS) facility was the first facility in the world to fully explore the impact of global warming on our food supply.
The nature of the research demands facilities ranging from Cl3 clean room facilities, Cl2 teaching laboratories, controlled glass house environments, micro biology laboratories, seed production and banking and large scale agricultural research.
To undertake such diverse and broad exploration the institute is located on two sites; one on the main teaching campus and another rural research faculty. In order to designate the research allocation, a masterplan study was prepared which anticipated the future development of the two campuses and identified the IBERS buildings in their most appropriate setting.
