Science Park, Masterplan and Development

Following Pascall+Watsons architects' completion of a strategic masterplanning exercise to provide facilities for 2000 scientists and support staff on a brownfield site, we were commissioned to develop detailed designs for the building(s). Work spaces have been arranged over four floors of accommodation grouped around a central atrium and internal street, to provide an opportunity for community activities and linking phases together as a coherent whole. The architecture of the building(s) reflects its functionality. Working closely with the client team, the design has evolved to provide a dynamic and exciting working environment, fully integrated to satisfy the end users complex needs. Sustainability was a key issue for this project. Passive environmental control utilising natural ventilation incl. stack effect air movement have been incorporated to ensure the highest possible BREEAM rating could be achieved.
