National Union of Journalists Headquarters Fit-out, National Union of Journalists

Pascall+Watson have worked with the National Union of Journalists’ to fit-out their seven storey London headquarters. The key objective of the project was to explore how to achieve a modern and flexible workspace through an extensive refurbishment programme of the 1950s building.

A consultation programme was undertaken to establish the project aims, brief requirements, specification and project management protocols. Improved efficiencies and maximisation on commercial return were key briefing points.

The finished 1,900m2 design consists of two floors of dynamic office space, an 'open to the public' restaurant, specialist seminar and presentation spaces and five levels of new sub-let office space. The working floors were completely re-imagined to create flexible team environments supported by shared collaboration zones.

The highly bespoke design and interior detail was carefully considered to provide innovative design concepts, including a commissioned piece by an up-and-coming street-work artist.

The design evolved to provide an adaptable and versatile workplace, which allows for future growth, within a dynamic and creative environment.
