London City Airport, ExpansionLondon City Airport

London City Airport benefits from its proximity to Canary Wharf and the City. Around 4.5 million passengers per year enjoy a bird’s-eye view of many of London’s world-famous landmarks on the approach to the airport, which is located within London’s Royal Docks.

Pascall+Watson have led the development and co-ordination of a constellation of projects known collectively as the City Airport Development Programme, aimed at providing additional infrastructure and passenger facilities to enable the airport to serve a predicted 6.5 million passengers per year by 2025. The programme, which includes a significant terminal extension, new multi-storey passenger pier, new aircraft parking stands and the replacement of the new multi-modal transport forecourt, has been approved by the local planning authority’s Design Review Panel as befitting the airport facility’s prestigious role as a gateway to London and the UK.

The site’s many constraints demand complex construction phasing, with high quality temporary facilities required to serve passengers with minimal delay, whilst existing facilities are demolished and new infrastructure built.
