Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport,

Pascall+Watson took part in a design competition for a new passenger terminal for Dalian International Airport, located in North East China. The scheme, designed with a capacity of 38mppa for the first phase, is located on an artificial island, due to the confines of the existing urban landscape, providing greater freedom in planning to achieve an optimum airport layout.

The terminal’s architectural concept is based on a variable array of self-similar shell-forms, echoing the surrounding waves and hills. It also evokes an avian form, with the design of the roof resembling the plumage of a bird.

A fully integrated multimodal transport interchange was also incorporated within our design solutions which seamlessly connects all the public transport services.
