University of Sussex Third PhaseSeptember 2012
The student demand for places at the University of Sussex has increased faster than expected since the first plans for Northfield were submitted in 2008.
Construction of phase one was completed in summer 2011 and the 14 halls of residence are now home to 777 Sussex students.
In late summer 2011, builders started work on the three blocks of phase two - and these 180 bedrooms were completed in summer 2012.
The design of the three extra blocks in phase three are the same as those already built. They contain clusters of six single study-bedrooms, each with an en-suite shower room and each cluster includes a kitchen and dining area.
The buildings are linked to the remainder of Northfield by extensions to the existing roads, pathways and landscaped areas.
