Dublin airport's 6 million euro new second terminal, known as T2, has won the 2010 Public Building of the Year award at the inaugural CMG Building and Design Awards in Dublin which celebrates some of the industry's best projects and designs of 2010.
The 75,000m2 building, designed by Pascall+Watson Architects, is capable of handling 15 million passengers per year and opened in November 2010. Terminal 2 at Dublin Airport was seen as a catalyst for the regeneration of design throughout Ireland.
'As architects to Terminal 2, Pascall+Watson are delighted Dublin Airport's new terminal has won such a prestigious award. Our experience gained in aviation architecture has enabled us to design a building which creates a sense of place for the travelling public and an intuitive route flowing through to the aircraft', Alan Lamond, Director of Pascall+Watson.
