Inauguration of Varna Airport in BulgariaAugust 2013
The new airport terminal for the coastal city of Varna was inaugurated on Thursday, 15 August 2013. Total investment in the development and related infrastructure was circa EUR 40m. The new 20,000m² terminal serves all flights at Varna airport (circa 1.8m passengers per year and an hourly rate of 1037) and the old terminal has been closed.
The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Daniel Papazof, Minister of Transport, Professor Aneliya Klisarova, Education Minister, deputies, diplomats, the mayor of the city, the governor, chief financial officer of Fraport AG Dr. Matthias Zieschang, the management of Fraport Twin Star Airport Management and others.
“Today's event is the result of hard work of thousands of people who planed, designed and performed a truly European Co-Production, called Terminal 2 at Varna airport”, said the CEO of Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD Ms Aletta Freiin von Massenbach.
“Our city now has a modern European airport that offers quality services to consumers, smart and state-of-the-art interior design”, the minister of transport said.
